What a New Zealand invoice has to say on its face
Required on the document
- The words “Tax invoice” once you are GST registered.
- Your GST number.
- The GST amount, or a statement that the price includes GST.
- The buyer’s details once the supply is over $1,000.
The one people get wrong
Inland Revenue moved to “taxable supply information” rules, and the practical effect is unchanged: without your GST number the other side cannot claim the GST back, and they will ask again.
The rate
GST is 15% on almost everything. There are very few exceptions, which is unusual and makes it simple.
